Luna Blue: Lou Lou

Just as the UK weather changes from winter to spring, Luna Blue have released their new single Lou Lou for us to sit in the sun and enjoy together. A real feel good, out with your friends till sunset without a care in the world kind of tune. After their 2021 EP Run to Tomorrow, we have been waiting for them to get back in the studio and create something special, and they definitely have made it worth the wait. Dreamy guitars, hypnotising drums and bold vocals make up this piece. If you haven’t started to create your annual summer playlist yet, I can’t think of a better excuse than this release.

If you haven’t heard much of Luna Blue yet, I’d describe them as a bit of a mix between Years and Years, Two Door Cinema Club and The Neighbourhood. The Brighton based 4- piece band have the modern indie backbone but also gives me a nostalgic, early 2000’s rock feel at the same time. A very unique sound, keeping their music current yet classic.

The new single Lou Lou highlights this perfectly, the mix of heavy basslines with light electric guitar riffs is a blessing on the eardrums. Strong vocals with atmospheric harmonies give us original, fresh melodies throughout, making the most of their musical integrity and talent. It features a huge, powerful pre-chorus build up leading into a crescendo of a final chorus that I can’t get it out of my head, I’ve been singing it around my house all day. A catchy, summery, explosive tune filled with rhythm and life from Luna Blue, yet again being unapologetically themselves, just in time for the sun.

For me personally, this is their best release yet. They’ve already been seen on the main stage at AmpRocks festival with bands like McFly, as well as headlining Brighton’s Komedia, but with three more releases planned for 2022, I do think this year will be the year they gain more recognition they deserve. All I can say is get them in your ears as soon as you can, that way you can tell everyone at parties that you knew Luna Blue when Lou Lou came out.
