The Writers

Joe Maine ( Writer for Music In Isolation)

I’m simply obsessed with music. I grew up with music around me and have just always kept it that way. From hip hop to indie to reggae to punk, I’m here for it all. I’d have to say my top 3 artists are Loyle Carner, Frank Ocean and The Stone Roses. After graduating university with a media degree, I am working on combining my media passion with my music passion so Music in Isolation gives me just that platform. Looking into new artists and exposing myself to new sounds is all I really do anyway, so writing about it all in a creative space is so exciting. I hope to bring you some great recommendations that will get your heads bopping and bless your eardrums.

Kirsty-Ann Thomson ( Writer for Music in Isolation )

I’m Kirsty, I’m 22 and right now, I’m based in Edinburgh. I’m an English Lit graduate but my heart has always been in music. It’s been something in my life for as long as I can remember and I’m looking forward to getting back to gigs and festivals once COVID has died down a bit. I’ll write about everything and anything-my taste is so varied and I love everything from the Beatles and the Ramones to Muse and Adele. I’m really excited to be with Music in Isolation and can’t wait to start finding my next favourite band.

Abbie Witherington ( Writer for Music in Isolation )

Hello! I’m Abbie, a copywriter by day and a music fanatic by night. Music has always coloured my life, from playing the violin as a youngster to producing and presenting radio shows dedicated to new music as an adult. I was that kid who got a fake ID to go to gigs, not clubs. In my spare time, you’d find me at a Bombay Bicycle Club, Little Simz or Michael Kiwanuka gig. If I could time travel back to watch any band - without a doubt - it would be Fleetwood Mac.

I believe that music is the glue that keeps us all together. It keeps us curious, inspired, and vitalised, which is why it is a joy to be able to bring new artists to your attention with Music in Isolation. Together we’ll discover our fave new artists and bands across the genre spectrum, so come along for the ride!
